License Reinstatement

ILLINOIS DRIVERS LICENSE REINSTATEMENT THROUGH
THE ILLINOIS SECRETARY OF STATE

The road to reinstatement is a very difficult process. It is extremely important to retain an attorney to represent you with your hearing through the secretary of state whether its an informal or formal hearing.

A formal hearing is normally required. These hearings are very complex and difficult for those without any experience. Many times people who represent themselves make mistakes that hurt their current hearing as well as future hearings that they may need to go through to get their license back. We can review your paperwork and advise you the best course of action. Further, we will review all your documents and make sure they meet the secretary of state requirements. We will also prepare you in advance for your hearing to make sure your testimony and documentation will be effective and credible.

It is our goal to make sure that you are prepared and well represented at obtaining some sort of driving privilege whether it’s a restricted driving permit for work or full reinstatement privileges. We can explain the legal procedures and requirements such as a BAIID device to help you through this very difficult process.

To have your driving privileges reinstated a driver that is revoked for DUI must “have a clear driving record other than the revocation sanctions” in other words, no other stops in effect. You must undergo an updated alcohol and drug evaluation for DUI related revocations. Further, you must show proof of completed recommended treatment requirements, including any secondary continuing care such as AA, church, or other groups for proof of abstinence from alcohol.

In a formal hearing, you must appear before a hearing officer and demonstrate that public safety will not be endangered if your driving privileges are restored. In order to prove your case, you must be well prepared and have all your supporting evidence, testimony, and documents in order.  You must file proof of financial responsibility (SR22) and pass all written tests as well as vision test, driving test, and pay any reinstatement fees.

We can set this all up for you and w
